CAMBRIDGESHIRE YOUTH BALLET COMPANY
Saskia Lockey - Artistic Director
Saskia trained at The Royal Ballet School and after receiving the Cameron Mackintosh scholarship she attended the London Studio Centre.
Whilst at The Royal Ballet she performed in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and The Royal Ballet Gala at The Royal Opera House and Hobson’s choice with The Birmingham Royal Ballet. Her West End debut was in the original cast of the Pajama Game working with Birmingham Royal Ballets Director David Bintley and director Simon Callow (Victoria Palace Theatre) where she understudied and played the role of Poopsie.
She then appeared in Little Women (Bloomsbury Theatre) followed by a tour of The Rat Pack directed by Mitch Sebastian. Saskia returned to the West End in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London Palladium). Other credits include Oliver! As the milkmaid and understudying Anna in the original cast of Santa Claus The Musical at The Mayflower Theatre Southampton. She then went on to join the cast of Starlight Express for the UK tour playing the roles of Volta and Ashley.
Saskia also has her own business teaching Ballet Workouts in London and Hertfordshire, putting on her own ballet pieces and productions.
She has been choreographing since 11 years old starting at The Royal Ballet School and then going on to choreographing ballet pieces for various performing arts college shows, summer schools and events as well as choreographing for her UK top 40 band called Cushh for videos shot in LA. As the lead singer of the charted act Cushh, she performed at various UK arenas including the prestigious Wembley Arena. She loves being creative and also co-owns a ladies clothing label called Stroppy Cat, which has been worn by various celebrities.
I feel very privileged to have such a creative job to lead this wonderful company. Together we will have an amazing journey through the world of ballet, and I know it will be such a magical experience for all the dancers involved, I look forward to working with them as a team to create a beautiful piece.
